4X-A2D A to D Converter

Quad Analog to Digital Converter

Harris Broadcast Systems proudly presents a quality yet cost-effective analog to digital audio converter. For customers needing to convert conventional analog audio sources into AES digital format, this device will accept up to four analog sources and outout in the AES3 (AES 1992) digital balanced format.

Whether you would mount this to the underside of the console furniture or use the optional 1 RU rack kit, the 4X-A2D will be right at home in any size studio. Pre-made cables are also available to speed installation.

4X-A2D also features an external synchronization input so it may be "clocked to house" if so desired.

Broadcast stations making HD Radio transition may also be caught needing to convert existing audio chains from conventional analog to AES for feeding HD Radio exciters which only accept an AES input. In this case, the output of a conventional audio processor or a legacy analog STL can continue to operate for years to come by utilizing the inexpensive 4X-A2D converter at the transmitter site. This could permit transition to HD Radio with far less initial cost impact.

16 x 2 MicroRouter

Analog & Digital compact routing system

The 16x2 Microrouter is compact digital audio routing system for use as a source input selector with a console, or as a high quality stand alone audio selector. The MicroRouter is ideally suited for use with the NetWave, BMX digital, Stereomixer digital or as a stand alone system. This MicroRouter package provides up to 16 remote sources, in any combination of analog or digital to a combination of two outputs.

* With the companion NetWaveTM dual selector, user control is identical to source-selection with the VistaMaxTM and VistaMaxTM Envoy audio management system solutions. The common user interface makes source selection tasks easy and familiar.
* Can be interfaced with PR&E® BMX and Legacy® series consoles or a standalone device, sources can be selected using external commodity with binary switch selectors.
* 1RU rack device with 16 source inputs. Each input can be remotely selected to one or both digital outputs.
* AMP MOD IV connectors (also used on Harris consoles) are used throughout to simplify wiring.
* Each input can be individually configured for either analog or digital signals, +4dBu and AES formats, respectively.
* Twin 24-bit A-D converters (same as used on the Harris 4X-A2D) are used to provide the highest signal quality.
* Digital inputs pass through to the digital outputs without any format change.

Quick Audio Wiring Kits

Console Wiring Kit

The Harris PR&E quick wiring kits provide you with pre-prepared cables can get the job done fast.

The Audio Wiring Kits come with console-mating AMP connectors already-terminated to 25-ft. long cables for balanced audio inputs and outputs. Separate, Neutrik-brand, insulation-displacement female and male XLR connectors allow the cables to be trimmed to length for a custom installation. Blank labels are included for user-identification of the cables. Excel worksheets to plan the wiring, and wiring list templates to document the system are available on the Harris .ftp site.

World Feed Panel

Audio Signal Connection System

The World Feed Panel (WFP) is a studio interconnect panel for temporarily connecting portable audio equipment (DJ coffin, video camera, band stage mixer, audio sampler, personal recorder, etc.) to studio-mounted audio equipment.

The panel accepts a stereo input on discrete XLR, TRS (1/4") or RCA jacks, or through a stereo mini-jack (3.5 mm). The panel outputs a stereo signal on discrete XLR, TRS and RCA jacks and a stereo mini-jack. Mic level outputs (-50 dBm) are also available on two XLRs. An output ground lift switch is also on the panel.

The panel converts unbalanced -10 dBV inputs (RCA or mini-jack) to the +4 dBm level that feeds the studio equipment inputs. The +4 dBm outputs from the studio equipment are resistively padded to create the -10 dBV and -50 dBm outputs.

Connect only one type of audio input at a time. Multiple audio outputs can be fed simultaneously. Use the Output Ground switch to minimize ground noise (hum) on the balanced outputs through connecting (ON) or unconnecting (LIFT) the shield wires.

WFP Connection summary:

* RCA jacks (I/O): discrete, unbalanced -10 dBV nominal
* Mini-Jack (I/O): stereo, unbalanced -10 dBV nominal
* TRS (I/O): balanced, +4 dBm nominal
* XLR (I/O): balanced, +4 dBm nominal, plus a balanced
* -50 dBm (mic level) output
* balanced +4 dBu inputs and outputs (see Signal Summary)
* 2-pin Molex: for the supplied 16 VAC transformer
